HOW TO ENTER FOREIGN LANGUAGE CHARACTERS
For this step-by-step, I’m assuming you are using Mac OS X 10.6. All earlier versions of Mac OS X have the same general functionality, but the location of the Character Viewer may be different.
1. Open System Preferences.
2. Select Language & Text.
3. Select the Input Sources tab.
4. Enable the Keyboard & Character Viewer checkbox.

5. Close System Preferences.
6. You will notice a new Menu item:

7. In the document that requires the foreign language character, click where you want to insert the character.
8. Click on the new Menu item.
9. Select Show Character Viewer.

10 The Character Viewer window will appear.

11. Navigate to locate the character you need and select it.
12. Click the Insert button (bottom right).
